Renfro- Mathematics (Meltwater) Renfro are Tim Branney and Atom James Draper - the duo call East London and North Devon home. Tim mumbles the songs and Atom provides melodic soundcapes, and they both write the words and put the music together. The results are dark and atmospheric, though comforting rather than threatening. As indicated, the lyrics are difficult to decipher, though that doesn’t detract from the womb-like experience that the recording instils in the listener. Much like a half heard conversation, one is curious and intrigued rather than repelled. It’s definitely the sort of record that’s best suited to after hours listening, though don’t be too surprised if it remains on your deck for some time.
