Esther O’Connor - Right Here (Redhed)
This is the second album form the the Scottish singer songwriter. It is an assured recording, that is ably produced by her father, the Wet Wet Wet guitarist Graeme Duffin. She certainly has her own style, but there are echoes of KT Tunstall in some of the tracks, especially "Hold On". What I particularly like, however, is the ability she has to adapt her voice to the feel of the song. She moves assuredly from a country style to soul to girl-with-attitude with ease. "All Right, Right Now" could easily be Sheryl Crow’s new single. I feel it’s only a matter of time before she breaks out to a major audience. www.estheroconnor.com
