Elliott Brood - Mountain Meadows (Six Shooter)
Dark, rambunctious alt. country and rootsy, unkempt folk rock is what Elliott Brood do, and boy, they do it good. Their second CD treads a heady path of the low-down and the anthemic - I’m not altogether sure where these songs came from; possibly the heart, or maybe a more base organ. Either way, no complaints here. They whip up enough hellish imagery over an album to satisfy the spottiest of teen metal-heads, while easing in rowdy, banjo fuelled knees ups, and shout-a-longs - all without missing a step. It’s a cracking collection of songs, always accessible, yet menacing, gothic and old-time scrappy. Expect to see them plying their trade on various festival stages in the summer. In the meantime, have a listen at their MySpace page... www.myspace.com/elliottbrood
