The OTT Band - Love Me(Hoochy Gooch)
The OTT Band are a big multiracial outfit from London. Their website says anything up to 15 members at any one time, which is a lot of people. Imagine Madness and The Blockheads as one big supergroup and you’ll have some idea of the amount of folks on stage at your local boozer. Those two bands also provide plenty of clues as to what the OTTs sound like; a mixture of occasionally tongue in cheek, reggae flecked, funky street-rock and socially aware ska-pop. All delivered with much stomp and stagger(ing). “You, Drugs and Booze” may well be the album’s outstanding track, a nod to mid period Nutty Boys gloom and doom, beefed up with some dirty guitar buzz. Although “Don’t Know” runs it a close second - a brass powered rave up that celebrates all the good stuff, or not.. On their MySpace pad they reckon Pink Floyd are an influence. Seriously? One of ‘em may own an unloved copy of Dark Side Of The Moon, but that’s as far as it goes. Check out their page and see what you think... www.myspace.com/ottbandcouk
