Avi Wisnia - Presents: (Independent)
A tidy 6 track EP from Wisnia, the son of a Rabbi from Jersey, with a bent for Bossa Nova. Yep, I gave my head a little scratch, too. The Brazilian influence is present throughout the EP in varying degrees, whether it’s the Latin rhythms or Toru Takiguchi’s blustery, bassy acoustic guitar. The standout is the opening cut “Something New”, a clever call for just that, while borrowing bits from “Eleanor Rigby”, “I Will Survive” and “The Girl From Ipanema”. www.aviwisnia.com
