First impressions draw comfy comparisons with Anthony Hegarty’s powerful vocal vibrato, and the ambitious instrumentation emphasises the point. But, on closer inspection, it’s the introverted howl of Scott Walker’s latter-day wanderings that From The Circus most resembles, though the arrangements and the way they’re presented here are easier on both the ear, and your eternal soul.
