Popgun - Manic Anti-Depressive (Wild Punk Records) Name any catchy, riff rock, punky combo of the last fifty years and Popgun will have raided their armoury. The Clash may have issued the clarion call 'no Elvis, Beatles or the Rolling Stones' but this superb Scandinavian trio have loaded up on a luscious mix of sixties beat and punk snarl to produce an endearing, engaging, entertaining album. “Fucked Up” is a punchy starter to smack you between the eyes and get you in the mood for the delights to follow. “(Erratic) Beating of the Heart” sounds like The Jennifers on a helter-skelter. Bonus track “Mr. Unconcerned” has been a radio favourite in Norway and you should be seeking it out for download within two seconds of reading this review.
