Maggie Walters - Midwestern Hurricane (Independent) For a while now, singer-songwriters have gravitated towards Austin, Texas, and Maggie Walters is one of them. Breaking out again seems to be the obvious progression. Walters doesn’t yet have a major or the big indie label behind her to help make that possible, though much of Midwestern Hurricane suggests it might just be a matter of time. Her songs are strong and engaging - short of true country stylings but with no deficiency of rootsy melodic hooks. The sound is utterly contemporary, with a smattering of soul and a radio friendly mix, and given the opportunity, standout tracks such as “Under The Table” and “Fingerprints” should soon be accumulating grown-up fans on grown-up radio stations. http://maggiewalters.com Rob F.
