Christine Albert - Paris, Texafrance (Moonhouse)
This is the third in the "Texafrance" series of recordings that celebrate Albert’s love of French chansons. It does exactly as it says on the tin. There are versions of classic French songs, either written or recorded by Edith Piaf and Charles Trenet, amongst others. It is full of tinkling pianos, string basses and accordions, and in places you can almost smell the Gitanes! It is obviously a labour of love, her grandmother was from Paris, and these are some of the songs she grew up with. The highlight track is "C'est D'la Faute A Tes Yeux!” - Don't Cry to me and you. With the film "La Vie En Rose" winning an Oscar, French classic songs have come round again. This may keep the interest going for a bit longer. www.christinealbert.com
