NoisePoetNobody & Vance Galloway – Uranium 238 (Lens Records)
For this duo’s second collaboration, ”Uranium 238”, minutiae is the order of the day. The first five tracks, with their long and convoluted track titles, contain micro-industrial musings whose sound is best described as a mixture of close-mic’d wristwatches, bed springs (“Measuring the Stones of Light with Primitive Wooden Tools”), underwater metalwork (“The Process of Enlightenment”) and chaos in a rubber band factory (“Glimmering Endless Possibilities”). These pave the way to the mammoth, “Casting Links For Chain To Enslave Animal and Man” whose 28 minutes combine a wealth of scratching, scrapes and tinkerings with far away drones and analogue modulations. Fascinatingly microscopic.
