Catherine MacLellan - Church Bell Blues (True North) This a well crafted, well sung album. It is one of those records that grows on you, and before you know it you can't get it out of your head. One of it's strengths is the subtle, understated way the songs are arranged. This allows her beautiful voice to come to the fore over the minimal instrumentation. Catherine is very much in the singer-songwriter genre, and her songs have a poetic beauty about them like Nancy Griffith and her heroine Joni Mitchell. The title track is a haunting blues song, whereas "Too Easy" is more arranged with drums and electric guitars.
