Rachel Harrington - City Of Refuge (Skinny Dennis)
This is old time country for those who like their music to be genuinely roots orientated. When I played it, I felt I could taste the tobacco in my clay pipe and hear the train in the distance. It’s an album of songs based on real stories and situations from a diverse source of material, ranging from prostitutes, to housewives woes, to the death bed scene of a boy dying. Therefore, the mood of the album is sombre, and in her own way she is singing the blues. It’s highly recommended if you like your country sounding from a by-gone era. If you don't, approach with caution. Have a listen at Rachel’s MySpace page: www.myspace.com/rachelharrington / www.rachelharrington.net
