Aaron Booth - Back Stories (Independent)
The quality of Back Stories, the chances of you having heard of Aaron Booth before, and the fact that this is his fifth album release in six years would suggest that the Canadian singer-songwriter is something of a undiscovered talent. Now might be the time to step out of the shadows. Back Stories contains ten songs of relatively flawless acoustic pop, not a million miles from part time Raconteur, Brendan Benson. “Same Thing After All” is an upbeat strum along about a shared love, “Blue” creates a smoky downtown bar feel, whilst “The Many Lead The One” finishes the album on a strong note. Sure, all of this has been done before, and at no point does Back Stories explode into a new and exciting musical landscape, but when it’s this perfect, who cares? Booth has got the voice and the skills to go a long way, and if we all join together and pray for the sunshine this summer then this could be the ultimate album to soundtrack those brilliant barbecues. www.aaronboothmusic.com
