Ranger3 - Old Simplicity (Bigo and Twigetti)
Citing as influences, various Krautrockers, Folkies, Minimalists and Experimental and Classical artists, the duo, Ranger3 have employed an assortment of folk, acoustic instruments and electronica, and presented elements of each of these genres on their eclectic debut. The production has certainly mashed things up a little and the absolutely obsessive arrangements have left no space unoccupied. The vocals have a very 80’s synth-pop styling are pitched alongside complex, constructed harmonies and cut-up and reconstructed guitar parts give it a unique and glitchy edge. Their name shouldn’t go without mention - Ranger3 was a “technology laden US Rocket whose mission was to land on the moon, but which actually missed the moon by 36,000 km and spiralled off into space, losing contact with the earth”. The tracks “Sense of Direction” and “Seventeen Miles” are obviously not about the rocket!!! www.bigoandtwigetti.co.uk
