Frida Hyvönen - Silence is Wild (Secretly Canadian) Pianist and keyboardist for Jose Gonzales and label-mate Jens Lekman, Frida Hyvönen has paid her dues the proper way, on the road and in the clubs of the US, Europe and Asia. Silence Is Wild, her second album, is a full blooded affair, with strings and choirs packing the spaces. Her vocals are perfectly complimented by the voluminous approach to the music and the blow-by-blow stacking of the instruments and added backing. Of course, Hyvönen’s piano provides a root for everything else to flower, and at its core, Silence Is Wild is a retrospective singer-songwriter album, that refers to the work of substantial artists such as Carole King, Marianne Faithful, and to strike a more contemporary comparison, Martha Wainwright.
