Hundred Year Flood - Poison (Frogville)
A few years ago it looked like Frogville might become the new Bloodshot. They had a great roster and an ‘all for one, one for all’ spirit about them. For one reason or another it didn’t quite happen, though the records kept on coming. Poison is Hundred Year Flood’s fifth long player, and it continues the band’s dalliance with messy, bluesy lo-fi(ish) rock and alt. country. Fronted by Felicia Ford (vocals / keyboards) and songwriter Bill Palmer (vocals / guitars), the band’s full-blown style and adherence to sound rootsy rock ‘n’ roll must surely make them an outstanding live proposition, and it’s to be hoped that they can make it to the UK to support their latest release, even if they can’t get Taj Mahal and Shannon McNally - who both appear on the record - to travel with them. www.luckydice.nl / www.frogvilleplanet.com
