Thom Landt - Bordertown (Golden Visla Music)
From the Edward Hopper style cover to the moody and atmospheric title track, this CD oozes class. Thom is a veteran of the Southern California music scene and fronts his own band The Telegraph Canyon Band. However, he has become an integral part of Paul Cotton's (Poco lead guitarist) solo projects. "Lonely Town" is an upbeat rocker and kicks off the album in a positive vein. Next up is "Driving Wheel" which has wonderful lead and electric guitar work. This is almost a solo album in the truest sense as Thom's playing is all over it. There is one cover "My Back Pages" which although written by Dylan, this version is more of a nod to The Byrds version. This is not a modern Americana album, it's a country rock album in its true definition, and Thom makes it sound current, vital and relevant. It's a beauty. www.myspace.com/thomlandt
